We are a young start-up from RWTH Aachen University that uses special coating technology to make recyclable plastic packaging possible for various applications.
Nowadays, plastics have become indispensable as packaging material. They not only help, for example, to make food last longer and thus reduce waste, their low weight also saves a lot of CO2 during transport. However, the environmental impact of this material depends largely on what happens to it after use. Hardly any other material has such a great potential for recycling as plastics. Since the common packaging plastics, such as PET or HD-PE, are not fully gas-tight or chemically resistant, it is necessary for certain applications to use multilayer systems made of different plastics, each of which have a certain function (e.g. barrier against water, barrier against gases, chemical resistance , etc.). Such composites can no longer be economically separated from one another, so that the post-consumer waste can only be incinerated.
With our technology, we can now compensate the aforementioned disadvantages of plastics without impairing the recyclability of the packaging. Our research was therefore nominated for the German Raw Material Efficiency Award 2020.
The core of our company is that we build and sell plant systems that make this environmentally friendly technology, especially for plastic containers, accessible to a wide range of users (B2B sector).
The financing of our start-up is secured for the next 2 years by funding from the EXIST research transfer program of the BMWi.
We work closely with the Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen University and are also based there.
